Lone Pine & Gold Coast

Category: Australia, Gold Coast – Sarah – 1:41 pm

So I had moved in on Friday and because Leanne didn’t really need me until about 10 days later I planned a lot of things for the weekend and the following week.
On Saturday I went with some of the girls to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the biggest Koala sanctuary in the world by the way. They have more than 130 koala plus some kangaroos, dingos, wombats and other funny animals :o)
I got the chance to cuddle a koala and feed some kangaroos, so I can cross that off my list ;o) The koalas are really cute but a lot heavier than you might expect!

On Sunday I then went with David (we met during the Riverfestival in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago) to the Gold Coast for the day. Had a totally delicious barbie in Burleigh Head, went for a little walk along the beach before heading to Surfer’s Paradies in the afternoon. The beaches along the Gold Coast are definitely a lot nicer than the one in Sandgate, but I must say I think Surfers Paradies is really overrated. You hear so much about it and all the backpackers stop there, but in the end it’s just a beach and a couple of tall buildings in the background. But again, it was so nice to get out of the city and to actually see some of area around Brisbane. Leanne still can’t get over the fact that my former aupair family didn’t show me around Brisbane and area at all!!
