Jeffreys Bay# 2

Category: Africa, Jeffey's Bay – Sarah – 4:29 pm

We’ve decided today to leave Jeffreys Bay one day earlier to have more time for the rest of the Garden Route. SO tomorrow we’ll be off to Plettenberg Bay. Rico and I did some surfing today…with a proper surf board this time…and once again..surfing is very hard to do!! Plus the water is a lot colder here than it was in Coffee Bay and Port St. Johns. I think I swallowed quite a lot of salt water today and the waves really knocked me over a couple of times. The waves here are really strong here, you always underestimate how much power they have!!
I’ve tried a couple of times now to upload pictures onto the homepage without success…I have no idea why it’s not working the way it should, so I’m giving up for now. I’ve already spent a lot of money for trying over and over again.
I will upload lots of pictures when I’m at home before flying off to Singapore. Sorry for that!

Coffee Bay, P.E. & Jeffrey’s Bay

Category: Africa, Wild Coast, Jeffey's Bay – Sarah – 11:32 am

Okay…so after a long time now I have finally found an internet place that has fast internet for reasonable prices. It’s funny how much you rely on being connected via the internet. It’s not like I miss it terribly, but it is the most important contact medium.
So, what has been happening over the last days?
Well, after our rushed goodbye from Port St. Johns…we had actually planned on staying another night, but forgot to chancel our taxi so we had to go. (I didn’t want to go at all!!)…we made it to Coffee Bay, which is another very beautiful spot along the wild coast. The Transkei is a very rural and very African part of South Africa and I think I have enjoyed it the most so far.
We (when I say “we” I mean Rico, Ossi and me…we have sort of teamed up for a while) stayed in Coffee Bay for 3 nights, went to a Xhosa village to meet the headman, watch the young girls perform some traditional dances and try some of their food.
The next day I did a hike to the hole in the wall which turned out to be far more exhausting than we all thought it would be. The view was stunning though. On our last full day, Rico and I tried ourself at surfing…which, let me tell you, is very hard to do. I have bruises all over my arms from holding on to the board and on my let from hitting rocks in the water. But it was still great fun and I got a really nice sun tan :o)
Yesterday we had a pretty long drive on the bus which eventually got us to Port Elizabeth. I had actually planned on staying 2 nights there, but I hated the hostel, so I went straight to Jeffereys Bay with Rico and Ossi which was once again the right choice ( I have changed my mind so many time during my travel, but it has always worked out for the better…especially in Port St. Johns!!)
We’re planning on staying here for 3 nights, the hostel in awesome and maybe I’ll try surfing again ;o)
After J’Bay we’re probably off to Plettenburg Bay ( I might do the Bungee jump there…it’s the highest in the world…216m..or so they say!)
